Dreams for Youth Volleyball Club
Dreams for Youth volleyball club is different from other club volleyball teams around the city. Open to girls ages 12 through 18. Each player is placed according to her ability and each receives access to athletic facilities, sports equipment and skill-based instruction from an experienced coaching staff. The 2008-2009 season was competitive and exciting, with many teams finishing first in their pools.

Coaches Information
Sylvia Cardenas – DFY head volleyball coach
Sylvia is a graduate of St. Mary's University where she played collegiate volleyball. She has been a coach and teacher for 23 years at Harlandale High School and is currently the women’s coordinator and head volleyball coach. As the head coach at Harlandale, she has lead her teams to 12 playoff appearances and obtained her 300th win last season. During the summer, Sylvia coordinates a summer league called "Can You Dig It" that attracts over 500 participates. She was recently selected by the Women's Sport Foundation to be featured in the coaches section of the Billy Jean King International Sports Center at the Sports Museum of America in New York City.
Jennifer Cabanilla Hicks – DFY volleyball coach
Jennifer has coached club volleyball (15's, 17's, and 18's) for six years at Home Court America and Dreams for Youth. She is responsible for directing and organizing practices; guiding and advising student athletes in their academic, social, and physical development; and preparing young women athletes to work as a team. Jennifer played Division II collegiate volleyball at St. Mary’s University in San Antonio, TX for three years and at West Texas A&M in Canyon, Texas for one year. Her volleyball honors include Heart of Texas Freshman of the Year and Lone Star Conference Player of the Year. She is a commercial insurance broker by day.
Anna-Rosa Campos – DFY volleyball coach
Anna-Rosa coaches club volleyball (15's). She graduated from McCollum High School and is attending UTSA. Her coaching experience includes AOA Sports, serving as court manager for two years at McCollum High School, coach four years in junior varsity volleyball, and varsity soccer.
Anna Castro – DFY volleyball coach
Anna attended McCollum High School where she was first team All District and District MVP in volleyball. She also was a track and field athlete. At Lamar University she received a scholarship in both sports but decided to pursue track, continuing to play volleyball through intramurals. She currently teaches at Harlandale High School where she coaches junior varsity volleyball. Her freshman teams have been district champions 2002-2006. In 2007, the Jr. Varsity team was district champions.
Mario Chapa – DFY volleyball coach
A native of San Antonio, Mario graduated from Harlandale High School and is now attending Palo Alto College, the first in his family to attend college. He started coaching club volleyball at the age of 17 and comes from a family of volleyball players. He loves the sport and particularly enjoys helping the girls that play for his alma mater.
Terry Delgado-Heim – DFY volleyball coach

Jerry Hicks – DFY volleyball coach
Jerry has coached club volleyball for Dreams for Youth for several years. Prior to his position with Dreams for Youth, he was a volunteer coach for two years. Jerry played collegiate football at Southwestern College for two years and at West Texas A&M in Canyon, TX for two years. Jerry is responsible for directing and organizing practices; guiding and advising student athletes in their academic, social, and physical development; and preparing young women athletes to work as a team.
Rose Ann Martinez – DFY volleyball coach
Rose is the PE teacher at Holmes High School and head volleyball coach. She received her Bachelor’s in Education and a Master’s in Administration from Incarnate Word University. She has 15 years experience coaching volleyball with seven as a head coach. Rose has nine years club volleyball coaching experience. She was the head coach for Incarnate Word High School’s 1994 state championship team.
Ruby McNeely – DFY volleyball coach
Ruby graduated from Holmes High School and is currently attending St. Mary’s University on a volleyball scholarship. She’s been playing since she was nine and was part of All Tournament teams throughout high school and Second Team All District two years in a row.
Natalie Reyes – DFY volleyball coach
Natalie has been coaching club volleyball since 2006. She is a graduate of the Harlandale ISD. Need more information here.
Jessica Romero – DFY volleyball coach
Jessica has coached five seasons of club volleyball and this is her second with DFY. She was the varsity captain her junior and senior year at Aldine High School in Lubbock, when the team was 1st team All-District. At Hill Junior College, where she received an athletic scholarship, she was captain in 2001 when the team was regional champions. Jessica was an All-American. She graduated cum lade from UTSA in 2004 with a Bachelors in Kinesiology and currently teaches PE at Harlandale Middle School and is girls’ athletics coach. In 2006 and 2007 her team was third in district and conference going 11-3 both seasons.
