The
Big 12 Women’s Soccer Championship was a great
success November 7,8 and 10 at Blossom Soccer Stadium. The University
of Nebraska beat Texas A&M in the finals to earn the championship
title and an automatic trip to the NCAA Women’s College Cup next
month in Austin as the Big 12 Conference representative. Congratulations also go to two local youth soccer teams who won the Sports Foundation’s drawing to attend the Women’s College Cup. First place tickets to the Championship were awarded to a team sponsored by Phil Miner, the second place tickets went to the Churchill High School team. The Sports Foundation will host the Big 12 Soccer Championship again for the seventh year in 2003. It’s not too early to reserve your 20-ticket team package for $89! Second Annual San Antonio Sports Foundation Golf Classic
The highlight of the day was 2003 San Antonio Sports Hall of Fame inductee John “Mule” Miles’ hole-in-one! The 80-year-old Negro Baseball League legend made the momentous shot on the eighth hole and won a golf trip to California. He can’t go on February 7th, though. That’s the night he and four other local sports greats will be inducted into the San Antonio Sports Hall of Fame. Congratulations to all the tournament and raffle prize winners. See you next year! |
Don’t miss the opportunity to entertain in style at the 2003 NCAA Men’s South Regional! A limited number of 16-seat suites are still available and priced at $5,500 for the two-day tournament. They will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis. |

In their own words… As chairman of the San Antonio Sports Foundation’s individual membership committee, Dan Stewart’s passion for the Dreams for Youth program fuels his drive to enlist new members. “The reason I joined the Sports Foundation is to help inner city children in individual Olympic sports. The Sports Foundation funds the ongoing coaching and equipment for these kids. Dreams for Youth requires the children to maintain a good GPA and helps to keep them out of trouble after school. The children are given the opportunity to better themselves while being surrounded by positive role models. Many of these role models are Olympic athletes themselves. Dreams for Youth tracks these children and can demonstrate their progress and success.” Dan Stewart Learn more about the benefits of becoming an individual or corporate member or how to sponsor a specific Sports Foundation event or program.
