School Rock Challenge Update
As part of the School Rock Challenge, students at Beard Elementary School were treated to a guest lecture and fitness demonstration from Run Gear Run’s Alfred Chavira, or Coach Al to the kids. Coach Al talked about importance of exercise in daily life, demonstrated proper warm-up and stretching techniques, and the importance of proper posture and form when running. He also showed the kids a few strengthening exercises and awarded his participants with free Run Gear Run water bottles and stickers.
After the fitness demonstration, Coach Al talked about nutrition and proper diet. He explained how eating well and exercising are vital to maintaining a healthy life. He ended by asking what activities could count as exercise, and left the kids with an important message; that you have to find something you love doing, and be sure you exercise at least an hour each day.
Thanks to Alfred Chavira’s for sharing his knowledge with Beard Elementary School. Students are now better prepared to complete the School Rock Challenge.
