Internships

San Antonio Sports (SAS) offers non-paid internships to students interested in learning the inner workings of a sports oriented non-profit organization. SAS staff members work directly with interns to provide a beneficial and enlightening real world experience.  Internships are available in the following areas: finance, administration, special events, marketing & communications, youth programs, volunteers, facilities and San Antonio Local Organizing Committee. 

Requirements

  • Applicants must be available to work 10-20 hours per week, Monday – Friday between the hours of 9:00am – 5:00pm, at the SAS offices in San Antonio, Texas.

  • Applicants must be able to provide their own housing and transportation.

  • Undergraduate and graduate level students are encouraged to apply.

Internship Descriptions

Administration

Finance interns will assist the finance department with all monetary aspects of the organization including check filing, data entry, and invoice creation.  Students should be working towards finance, accounting, or a related degree. 

Executive Director interns will assist SAS executive director with daily responsibilities and projects.  Tasks may include attending meetings, drafting written materials, research, and helping with all organizational needs.

Special Events

Event Planning interns will help the special event manager organize San Antonio Sports events. In an effort to produce high successful events interns should expect to interact with vendors, sponsors, participants, and volunteers.

Marketing/Communications

Marketing interns will assist staffs efforts to build the San Antonio Sports brand and awareness. Responsibilities may include writing and distributing press releases, developing marketing pieces and communicating with SAS partners.

Media Relations interns will assist with media communications, media relations surrounding special events, compiling press kits, and a variety of other PR tasks.

Youth Programs

Youth Program interns will assist with all youth programs & events and handle day to day issues with coaches, parents and kids and often interact with program partners.

Volunteer Development

Volunteer Development interns will work with the volunteer coordinator to plan, contact, cultivate and maintain the volunteer base for a variety of events throughout the year. Must have excellent customer service skills and ability to think on one’s feet.

Facilities & Event Management

Facilities and Event Management interns will assist with grassroots marketing efforts for all events and assist with the development and research of a web-based community facilities guide.
