Ideas
for the School
1. Create
competitions between the students and the teachers or principals.
2. Have monthly pep rallies to celebrate Milestone
Markers set for the entire campus.
3. Have campus walks and have everybody on campus walk
together that day – administrators, teachers, librarians, nurses,
secretaries, custodians, etc.
4. Invite local “celebrities” to your pep
rallies or to walk with the students that day – The Mayor, the
City Council, Spurs, Olympians, Missions, local TV personalities, musicians,
doctors, parents, etc. The San Antonio Sports Foundation can be a resource
for you. Contact Vanessa Richey at 210-820-2112 or vrichey@sanantoniosports.org.
5. Invite students from the high schools in your district
to come walk with the students – cheerleaders, all student athletes,
student councils, band members, etc. Ask the high school students to
wear their uniforms or jerseys.
6. Spotlight one class in your school (bi-weekly) and
award that class for meeting their two-week goal. Spotlight this class
in your school newsletter or on your school website.
7. Ask your PTA to create rewards for the students
each month.
8. Have guest speakers talk about the importance of
exercising and eating healthy.
Overall, be creative, have a good time, and do what works for you
and for your campus.
