Subway
Victory Lap Celebration is Here
Congratulations,
Teachers! Thank you so much for encouraging your Go!Kids throughout
the Diamond Shamrock Go!Kids Challenge™ . All your hard work will
be rewarded when you see your kids complete their Subway Victory Lap
and earn their finisher’s medals and t-shirts. On Sunday,
December 5, the effort of the past 10 weeks will be celebrated
at the Alamodome from 2 to 4 p.m. Please encourage
every child who completed the program to attend with his or her family.
Each child MUST bring their completed journal or the final coupon from
the journal.
Ready…Set…Go!
Mayor Ed
Garza will be on hand to kick-off the Subway Victory Lap. Local
Olympian Josh Davis and Paralympians Ross Davis,
Casey Tibbs and Larry Quintero, sponsors
and other dignitaries will be there to help cheer on the thousands of
Go!Kids. The celebration will begin at 1:45 p.m. with a huge group warm-up
led by Spectrum Health Clubs before the walk starts at 2 p.m. Children
will be welcome to walk their victory lap at any time between 2 and
4 p.m.
Fun for
Everyone
The Subway Victory
Lap Celebration will be fun for the entire family. After the children
walk their victory lap, they can enjoy activities at a variety of sponsor
booths. At the Subway booth, Go!Kids can become Subway
sandwich artists, play Jared's Pants Game and participate in a Go!Kids
Go activity center. Spectrum Health Clubs will host
exercise stations in its area. Children can get fun temporary tattoos
at the Methodist Health Care booth. WeMakePEFun.com
will demonstrate their playground equipment that has been offered as
a participation incentive for teachers. The San Antonio Sports
Foundation's Dreams for Youth program will have an area set
up for Go!Kids to try sports like fencing and badminton.
Adults will be able
to register for a chance to win Spurs tickets from PacifiCare,
and Spurs tickets and free gas from Diamond
Shamrock.
Logistics
Free parking will
be available in Lot C at the Alamodome for all cars and buses. Signage
will direct everyone to enter the Alamodome through the south tunnel
(on the Durango St. side). Volunteers will greet the Go!Kids and their
families and direct them to the check-in tables. There, the children
will present their completed journals or final coupon from the journal.
Only those who provide this proof of completion will be issued a finisher’s
t-shirt, and only those children wearing their t-shirts will be awarded
a finisher’s medal.
If Your Go!Kids Cannot Attend
We know that not
every Go!Kid will be able to attend the Subway Victory Lap Celebration.
The Sports Foundation will distribute finisher’s medals to participating
school districts this week. The districts will then distribute them
to the schools. Please DO NOT distribute them to students until after
the December 5 Subway Victory Lap Celebration.
Only those children
who have completed the Diamond Shamrock Go!Kids Challenge™ and
attend the Subway Victory Lap Celebration will receive a t-shirt.
