GAME #1 (Uruguay 79, v. Bahamas, 60)
NAME: Fernando Cabrera
Head Coach, Uruguay
QUOTE:
“It’s our first win. It’s always hard to come back after such a big fall from our game with Brazil. Our main objective was to qualify for the World Championship, but we try to keep our heads high and play great basketball.
We haven’t played against Puerto Rico, but we do know the characteristics of their game. Before and during the tournament we’ve been able to see how they play. We’re honored to have the opportunity to play against Puerto Rico tomorrow.
I am happy and proud of how our team played today. I think we’ve taken advantage of every opportunity.”
NAME: Jayson Granger #15
Player, Uruguay
QUOTE:
It’s not about who makes the most points, it’s about the team as a whole trying to win. This time it just so happened that I made the most points and we won the game.
We have a good chance of winning tomorrow’s game against Puerto Rico. We are excited to play against them tomorrow.
We’ve been training and practicing for this tournament for seven months. Unfortunately, we lost to Brazil but we leave everything on the court and we will tomorrow too.
