San Antonio Sports Tailgate Talk
Building Champions with Jim Boeheim
and Jeff Capel
hosted by the San Antonio Sports Circle of Champions
San Antonio Sports members and their friends are invited to participate in a discussion about the state of collegiate and Olympic basketball with Syracuse coach Jim Boeheim and Oklahoma University coach Jeff Capel.
Jim Boeheim
Jim Boeheim has coached Syracuse basketball for the past 34 years. He coached the 2009-10 Syracuse squad to a 30-5 mark, the BIG EAST Conference regular-season championship and the third round of the NCAA Tournament. He added to his NCAA Division I record for 20-win seasons by posting his 32nd. Boeheim achieved the ultimate basketball tribute in 2005 when he was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame. A long-time participant in the USA Basketball program, Boeheim was named 2001 USA Basketball National Coach of the Year after leading the Young Men's Team to the gold medal at the World Championship in Japan.
Jeff Capel
Hired in 2006, Jeff Capel quickly rebuilt the Oklahoma men’s basketball squad netting him the most wins (69) and best winning percentage (.676) of any coach in OU history after three years at the helm. After a challenging 2009-2010 season, Capel finds himself in rebuilding mode again. A four-year starter for Hall-of-Fame coach Mike Krzyzewski at Duke from the 1993-94 through 1996-97 campaigns, Capel coached at Old Dominion and Virginia Commonwealth prior to joining the Oklahoma staff.
