135,000-square-foot center has a
3,800-seat capacity (no bleacher seats) and a hospitality
suite overlooking the arena.
The Bill Greehey Arena was the first
NCAA, Division II facility in the country to have video
board capability. Two single-faced video boards are located
on opposite corners to maximize viewability from anywhere
in the arena. The 8'2" x 10'8", 15.8 MM LED boards
provide a more dramatic and unique touch to all events.
The LED boards connect to a four sided 6'xlO' scoreboard
to create a more engaging and exciting facility.
Its name is in recognition of the largest
capital gift of $3.1 million made by the St. Mary's Alumni
Association, as well as the dedicated leadership, commitment
and personal contributions of capital campaign chairman
Bill Greehey, honored in naming the arena. Greehey, a distinguished
alumnus of St. Mary's (B.B.A. '60), is chairman
of San Antonio-based NuStar Energy.
