Community Olympic Development Program - San Antonio

The United States Olympic Committee (USOC) created the Community Olympic Development Program (CODP) in 1996 in order to address the needs of progressing athletes from the beginning stages of development to the elite level, naming San Antonio as its pilot site 1997. There are only 7 CODPs representing 10 National Governing Bodies (NGBs) in the country.

Through a partnership with the USOC and NGBs, CODP San Antonio provides quality intermediate sports programs in badminton, diving and fencing for talented youth to maximize their potential in Olympic sports. Talented young athletes experience quality coaching, facilities, equipment and competitions necessary to excel to their highest level of athletic achievement. The goal is to improve the quality of training and competition to increase the number of youth who are candidates for National and Olympic teams as well as college scholarships.

Principles of Our CODP

  • Highly educated and experienced coaches are at the core of the program.

  • Year-round sport-specific skill-based training is the foundation of CODP top performance.

  • Outstanding athlete role models assist development at every level.

  • Development of a sport culture within the community through parental support is essential for nurturance of the athlete and program success.
