Coaches Information
Kampol Surapiboonchai - Head DFY and CODP Coach
Kampol Surapiboonchai is a three-time United States Olympic Festival athlete, who won a gold medal in 1994. The two-time former national team player came to San Antonio from Southern California in 1997. From 1988-1995 while in Chicago, he had established himself as one of the top developmental and elite level coaches in the country. He placed six athletes in the United States Olympic Committee’s residence training program, and had Illinois state champions eight consecutive years. After moving to San Antonio, Kampol’s athletes received three more national titles in only three years--bringing his total championships to 11. The United States Olympic Committee named him “Developmental Coach of the Year” in 1998 and 2002. Kampol’s goal is to develop elite level athletes that can compete on the national stage. San Antonio currently has the nation's only institutionalized elementary school badminton league.
