Bring your game to the Tesoro TAAF (Texas Amateur Athletic Federation) 2008 Games of Texas, hosted by the San Antonio Sports Foundation, July 24-27.  The city will welcome athletes competing in more than 20 events and participating in the largest multi-sporting event in the State of Texas.  The Games are patterned after the Olympic Games, making the Games of Texas the ultimate sports festival for Texas’ many amateur athletes.

Local amateurs can participate in events which don’t require qualifying.  These include tennis, golf, badminton, baseball, basketball, fencing, gymnastics, ice hockey, rugby, 3v3 soccer, 3v3 and 5v5 volleyball, and many others.  These sports will be played in San Antonio’s best facilities, parks, and athletic centers.  Nelson Wolff Municipal Stadium will be the site of opening ceremonies on July 25.   To find out more or to register, click here.

Get Ready to Rock San Antonio!

The Rock ‘n’ Roll San Antonio Marathon & ½ Marathon will take place November 16, 2008.  Don’t miss out on the unique, block-party experience when the race implements its rock ‘n’ roll theme with rousing music, hundreds of local high school cheerleading squads, and themed water stations lining each mile of the course. The inaugural event concludes with an evening concert at the Alamodome, free to all participants and featuring a major rock ‘n’ roll headliner.  Click here to learn more about the course and to register.

Are you ready to train?  Then use the Alamo Series, a multi-race training series organized by Fleet Feet Sports, Run Gear Run, Run-A-Way Athletic Club, San Antonio Road Runners, the San Antonio Spurs and Soler’s Sports.  Visit alamoseries.com for details.

If you know a band or cheer squad that’s interested in participating on the course, please contact us at inform@sanantoniosports.org.  Bands are asked to submit a press kit including CD, bio and photo by July 1.
